PPC Live 2020 – a day in the life of an exhibitor!
It takes months to plan the perfect show, from stand design, staffing schedules, logistics management, marketing…the list goes on (but lets not divulge too many of the mundane details).
And in a blur, it’s been and gone, just like that!
If you’ve never been to a trade show as an exhibitor, we wanted to give you a glimpse into the life of a show.
For those of us at Metex, it’s a trek to get to Yorkshire, it involves lengthy journeys and delightful hotel stays. Luckily, we have plenty of old and new customers to see en route.
So with a 6:30am start from Wiltshire and 4 meetings squeezed in, We arrive at the Yorkshire Event Centre at 3pm, just in time to unload the van, build the stand and get to our accommodation.
Wednesday 11th March – A 7am wake up for a spot of breakfast and a journey to the event hall to be ready for a busy 9am start, and it only gets busier as the day goes on.
PPC Live is a chance for Metex to support its loyal distributors by promoting the UK’s Number One Rat Blocker range which includes Ratwall & Nordisk as well as any new and innovative products that we have in our arsenal, e.g Unikey & the brand new RatTape…
The day gets busier, an endless stream of happy pest controllers and hours go by, we haven’t stopped talking the whole time!
Pestology (London), a well-respected business within the industry, gave a fantastic talk on ‘Current Rat & Mice Proofing Products’. The focus being on best practise methods on all kinds of Rat Proofing to include Rat Blockers, namely Ratwall & RatTape.
The afternoon is slower, still constant, but calmer. Our enthusiasm hasn’t dampened (even if our legs have) but speaking to people is what we all love about these shows. Having a genuine interest in people is essential and the feedback from those on the ground that use our products day in day out is vital to the success of Metex.
Its 3pm, one more hour to go but we’ve had to have a little sit down, all day on your feet can be tiring!
4pm arrives, the show closes and the customers tail off, bags and brooms in hand. We start to clear away and pack up the stand for the 4-hour journey home.
That’s a day in the life of a trade show, we are all lined up for our next event ‘The UK Concrete Show’ where Metex will be showcasing a range of hand tools used to achieve a perfect finish when laying liquid screed & flowing concrete. The stand designs are in progress and the hard work will continue to make the next one a roaring success.
…It’s a good job we love what we do, and we hope that you love what we do too!
