Installing Grab Bars to tiled Dot & Dab Plasterboard Walls?
Grab bars aren’t just safety devices for hospitals and public restrooms. In your own home, a strategically placed and solidly anchored grab bar can mean the difference between a relaxing bath and a trip to Accident and Emergency at the local Hospital.
However, fitting grab bars isn’t always easy. This is especially true if you’re trying to secure your grab bar to a tiled dot & dab plasterboard wall as a secure fixing is reliant on the underlying structure of the wall. Fixing to a dot and dab tiled wall is particularly difficult with traditional fixings, however Corefix overcomes this problem.
Corefix is an innovative wall fixing designed specifically for hanging heavy loads to dot & dab walls. It consists of a patented wall plug, heavy duty steel Core and screw, the Core bridges the plasterboard cavity transferring the load from the plasterboard to the block work behind and preventing the fixing from being over tightened, so no cracking or bowing of your plasterboard or tiles.
But don’t take our word for it, here’s what a Michael.W had to say:
“I am an ex Building Surveyor (retired) and recently needed to fix a shower grab bar on an external wall that is tiled on to dot & dab. What a pain! Can’t safely fix to the tiles and plasterboard as the tiles are very brittle. Can’t fix to the masonry substrata as tightening up the fixing will simply draw the tiled/plasterboard backwards towards the substrata and again cause flexing, which again is likely to crack those brittle tiles!
Then I saw Charlie’s DIYte video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx90VadXSXA. I ordered the Metal Corefix Standard Heavy-Duty Dot & Dab Wall Fixings.
Two careful hours later and the grab rail is fixed as solid as you like! What an excellent product and an excellent video from Charlie. Well done all!”
Corefix is a price competitive specialist fixing. It can be installed in no time at all and without the need for specialist tools…so fixings grab rails is now as simple as drill, tap, screw!
